Farming Approach

The Farming Approach We Live By

Open Door Policy:

Anyone who knows how to conduct themselves properly when visiting is welcome any time. Everything is open.. bring your camera and the kids. We  share freely our experiences on farming. Bring old clothes and old shoes we may even put you to work feeding chickens and collecting eggs.

Nature’s Harmony:

At Nature’s Choice Farms our farming approach begins with the study of nature and how best to work in harmony with its ways. Our basic premise begins with the grass. In the animal kingdom life is all about grass. We move our animals freely across the pastures. As they move regularly,  each is playing the role nature intended working in harmony with each other gathering the nutrients they need to live… without the need for additional growth hormones or antibiotics.

Nature’s Choice:

Each animal is raised on Nature’s Choice Farms as they were designed by nature. Pigs were designed by nature to root in the dirt.  Cows were designed to graze on grass moving from one fresh patch to another. Chickens were designed by nature to scratch out a living on bugs and grass to stay alive.

Plus, our animals are treated with so much kindness from everyone on the farm they actually  become pests at time when we are feeding and watering. We love what we do and we love the animals here on the farm.

Community Support:

We raise our food first to support our families. We only want to eat the best food nature intended and will provide. While doing so, we grow and provide for the local community what they order.  We grow what folks like you ask us to raise. You let us know how many chickens you want and we will raise them for you. If you want them processed, we will do that to as part of our customer service.

Moreover, our products are not meant to be shipped across the country and across the oceans. Our goal is to support our local community with nutritious food and to reacquaint the  community as it was before large corporations took over the food supply.

Nature’s Way

Learning to mimic natures ways helps keep us in check before applying commercial applications to our food production.  It insures we stay within moral and ethical bounds with nature, family, friends,  and the community. Guess some would refer to it as “Green Farming“.

Our concern is about our children, and our neighbors, who buy from us. We make sure they get nutritious food to eat every day.  If you live outside our area we ask that you support a local farm enterprise close to you. If you need help finding a local farmer contact us and we will do our best to help.

Earthworms Are The Major Player

In our research we have learned that where you find earthworms you will find healthy soil. Healthy soil is the key to life. The simple rule to follow: Anything I put on the ground that kills the earthworms is bad for the soil.

Our farming approach is… PROTECT THE EARTHWORMS at all costs. This is one exemption to this rule: Chickens. Yes, chickens eat the earthworms but this is not what we mean.

Our Mission: Build healthy soil so that our family and community will live healthy lives.
